Set Stories

Earth Final Conflict

While on set one time Christina had a... well, flattering experience. Martin had to drop off a prop and Christina wanted to drop onto set to take some pics of props Martin had not gotten photos of yet. Their friend Jo Frankel joined them that day for a tour. Chris was caring her camera around her neck and the strap was just long enough that it hung just below her chest. Von Flores Stopped her as they passed each other and cupped his hand under the camera lens as he remarked "Nice..." he paused for effect. "Lens." She shook her head and laughed as he went off to set with a grin on his face.

Da'an's chair is not the most comfortable place on set but one that everyone wants to experience. The pit below is not extremely deep but a little unnerving when you realise how little is holding the chair up. The pics of us sitting on the chair can be found on our resume title pages.

The mural above graces the wall of the front building on Eastern. The EFC sets are just to the right (South) of the mural. It's wonderful work.

Total Recall 2070

Here Martin sits on the steps of the Total Recall Set. This door, like many things on the EFC and Total recall sets, came from the old FX, The Series set when it wrapped. Martin's saying when FX was on the air was "When I grow up, I want to be just like Rollie Tyler." He's made it but FX didn't. A moment of silence please....... Most of the stories to be told about the Total Recall set have a lot to do with the various people who controlled the cars via remote.

Those poor things have sideswiped, ran into, wedged under and gone through so much on that set. It's hard when the people who built them didn't run them during shooting. Martin and the JJAMB gang had had much more practise than those on set.

Tuxedo

This movie will always been in our minds as the movie all production paused on September 11. This and Earth Final Conflict both came to a temporary stop when that day happened. JJAMB had Tuxedo props 'On The Floor' that day and Martin watched the news on a small handheld TV on the EFC set. I don't think we need to say any more.

X-Men The Movie

When Martin and Christina went to the set of Interstate 60 to drop off a timer prop the owner of JJAMB (John Jackson) handed Martin their visor from the X-Men set and asked Martin to get James Marsden to autograph it, Martin obliged. While there James was accompanied by a friend by the name of Brian. Brian had a great black and white instamatic camera. So... We stuck the visor back on Jame's face and took this pic. We spent some time talking with them (and Gary Oldman) about how hard it was to act without the use of eye contact and expressions.

We covered Brian's moment on the X-Men set with Stan Lee at the hotdog stand. James recommended to Brain that he should have done the shot complaining about the hotdog. Brian answered with 'There's a spider on my dog. I could become the next spiderman. A pudgy one but hey...' We also ran through a number of 'clichés' that James could use when autographing things. As you see 'Blast Wishes' quickly became the winner and thus the autograph. Hmmm... I see a Christmas Card in the works.

That ends the few stories we wanted to tell. Hopefully we'll be able to bring you more in the future.
