2006 Didn't disappoint

This year we didn't do as much for Theatre In The Raw as our lives seemed to take off.

With Martin on his second year with Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis and Christina working hard on the Renfest (with Martin at her side), not to mention archery, acting drop in, Fandom activities... Yeah.. It was a busy year and we loved it all. So... Here's a quick sum up.

Amongst all the crazy things Christina wants to accomplish is a Ghost Documentary type show so her ghost page stays up. If you have a great local ghost story she'd like to hear it.

Archery is a fairly regular activity for Christina. Martin's plan this year is to join her in this venture and come out onto the field to shoot. With this goal in mind she wants to save up for a longbow. After all.. If you are going to do historical characters you might as well give it a go.

BC Renfest is coming along well. As the group grows and develops more and more avenues open up for the project. With one more meet and greet coming up soon, it is all expected to go along smoothly and productively. This year was spent heavily promoting the idea at various events and functions. Many of them can be found on the webpage here. Talk Like A Pirate Day stood out as the favourite and one worth repeating. This also led to a 'first renfest' weekend for 2007. The one weekend event will be promoted via the webpage, once things are finalised but keeping the last weekend of July open would be wonderful. We'd love to see as many of our friends as possible in attendance.

Martin's birthday this year? A custom made, wheat free, black forest cake was made by Danielle. A beautiful creation, it was rich and filling. So much so that dinner was not necessary. Christina's Birthday saw this wonderful, lion printed (BIG PIC of a lion on it) merangue type cake. Yummy. Both birthday's saw the beginning of a new tradition (the birthday box) where people bring cards and/ or spare cash and drop it into the box. This way there is no comparisons and if you don't want people to know how much you gifted no one has to. Saves a huge hassle as well as no one has to think out what to get you. It really worked well. There was also horse shoe playing and Frisbee tossing. Not to mention mead and wheat free treats.

We made new friends (Ruthie & Jo) with visitors from The U.K. by acting as Stargate Tour guides. We met the two of them through BIFF.

Christina's Older Brother came for a very short visit. He was popping around various cities for job interviews as he feels it is time to come back to Canada (From Korea). We have yet to hear what the results might have been.

Melissa came on by for a bit of a holiday and a visit. She was an incredible delight to have around and we look forward to the next time we see her. She even took part in the Canada Day Parade. We entered in order to promote VCON.

We did a number of parades for VCON and attended the convention for the whole weekend, this year staying at the hotel and being very active. To make things easier we'll just link to the report here. Drop on by and give it a read. Watch the videos and have a good chuckle.

Hallowe'en, this year, was pumpkinless BUT we did:

Go to the Stanley Park Ghost Train with Kiran, Tiff and friends (In Pirate)

Go to a friend of a friend's party with Danielle, Clayten and Tami (In Pirate)

Tiff and Christina went to Burnaby Village Museum (In Pirate) as Martin stayed behind not feeling well.

And just to break the whole pirate thing we went out Hallowe'en night to Miranda's place then the acting drop in in Lord Of The Rings.

We once more had a Bilbo Birthday and, just because she felt like it, Christina set up a little Mellyn Annui page so that the LOTR group would have a home. There was the yearly Trilogy Day and Tolkien's Birthday as well. Both celebrated in style and with flair.

The dress up movie this year was POTC II.... Hmmm... We were in pirate gear a lot this year.

Christina still has her own Cafepress store. She has also listed a few photo books with Lulu press.

We visited Mexico a few weeks ago. We really needed the break. We had quite the adventures there and you can read about it all on the new blog on the MySpace page. If you would like to keep updated about what is happening with us please feel free to visit the MySpace page as often as you would like to. The blog is set to public so it should be easy enough for everyone to read.

This was also the year someone broke into our home and stole ~$15,000.00 worth of important stuff (cameras, laptop, etc.). Without insurance we were financially set back replacing it all. Still recovering but not worth fussing over anymore. The other crappy thing was the small car accident where we were without a car for a month and a half but since Christina is physically fine and the insurance handled it (Plus the rates stayed the same due to the fact that it was milicious) it was a hickup in life.

We survived the snow storm and the wind storms dind't damage anything vital. The cats are fine and the world is still spinning.. So all in all... What a great year!!!

We are still hoping we can collect copies of all the movies Martin has worked on so if anyone out there has any for sale cheap... Let us know. If you are wondering what we already have, simply ask. If you need to see what Martin's worked on click here. It hasn't been updated since he started to work for Stargate but it is pretty accurate.

I guess that's about all that rolls off of the memory right now. Please feel free to send us an email with any links you may have to your blogs and such. We swore we would never go that route but have recently discovered how convenient it is.
